Where do I park when I come to a show at the Opera House?

Although we do not have our own reserved parking lot, there is a parking lot one block north and another one block south. Metered parking is also available in the garage beneath the Molengracht (canal zone) just outside our back door. There is also plenty of street parking available just outside our front door. It is an easy walk to the Opera House from any of these convenient parking locations.

How much are tickets?

Ticket prices vary for each show.  Click here for a specific show prices and ticket purchase.

How can I find out what is on the calendar at the Pella Opera House?

How can I get the best seats in the house?

Due to the size of the venue, all 324 seats have wonderful visibility.  It mostly depends on your preference of where you would like to sit, in the balcony or on the main floor. However, members of the Pella Opera House can receive preferred seating; we make tickets available to members several weeks prior to releasing tickets for public sale.

Can I schedule an event at the Pella Opera House?

The Pella Opera House has a Great Hall and Theater that are available for rental for meetings, receptions, company parties, businesses and social functions.  Whatever your event, the Pella Opera House can accommodate you.  For more information, you may contact 641-628-8625.

Can we have liquor at our event?

Yes, the Pella Opera House is one of the few reception halls in town that has a liquor license, and a cash bar is available at intermission of most performances.

When is your next opera?

Although the name of our venue is the Pella Opera House, this is not the genre of entertainment most often performed.  Opera House was a common name given to entertainment venues in the late 1800s and early 1900s because of the social attitude toward “theatre establishments.” Opera Houses commonly have the stage on the second-story of the building, as the Pella Opera House does.  For other interesting facts check out the book, The Opera Houses of Iowa, by George D. Glenn and Richard L Poole.

Who owns the Pella Opera House?

The facility is owned and managed by the Pella Opera House Commission, a private, not-for-profit corporation with a board composed of local citizens.

When was the Pella Opera House built?

The original building was built in 1900 as the community’s social and cultural center and remained so until the “talkies” (movies).  In 1986 a group of citizens concerned with the arts programs in Pella set out to renovate the venue, and the doors were reopened in 1990 under the name, The Pella Opera House.

Are you handicapped accessible?

Yes we are; when ordering tickets, you will need to specify that you will need accessible seating.
